2020.10.16 23:44 Jonsmith78 Anyone signed up for Containers for Change yet?

Looks like you don't have to give your details to take containers back.
Not sure why you need to sign up at all - maybe to use the bag drop feature?

So, am in process of signing up to this.
Find it odd that they were asking for my Gender, Age Range, and Post code.
Haven't clicked the tick box for accepting the terms and conditions yet.
The privacy policy (see below) looks like they want a lot of info, and are gonna use this info for advertising, marketing, research or whatever the hell the want, and will share your info with whoever they want.
Not keen on accepting all this. for a measly 10 cents a container.
Am I overreacting, or does this seem like a bit of an overreach on their part?:

2020.10.15 09:32 PletraTech Why Your Restaurant Needs a Useful Mobile App

Why Your Restaurant Needs a Useful Mobile App

Apps for Restaurants
Out there on how important it is to develop a mobile app and make sure you have a strong mobile presence. But the vast majority of that advice is written by app development companies with no real concern over how well your business eventually does as a result of your marketing efforts… they just want to scare you into signing up for their services by throwing out scary-sounding numbers that may or may not be backed up by actual, published facts. We’ve got some data points to present to you… all complete with real-life examples to help you do the math on the potential revenue and customers you’re missing out on so you can make that decision for yourself.

Do I need my own restaurant app?
Essential features for restaurant app
Now that you’ve rightfully decided to invest in a mobile application for your restaurant, the next thing to decide on is what features to put in it? We’ve compiled a list of 5 of the most important features every restaurant app needs to have to be loved by the customers. Sure, you can add more features to it, but you shouldn’t compromise on the following features:

1.Push notifications
Push notification is a double-edged sword; it can make or break your app. Your app will be successful if you use it in a sophisticated and subtle manner. However, if you overuse or abuse it then push notifications can annoy your users resulting in a subsequent loss. Push notifications must be managed smartly and carefully. Sending an alert in the middle of the night is never a good idea. Instead, ask your customers about the medium in which they want notifications (SMS, Email, Push Notification), also ask them the specific time.

2.In-app, online ordering, and mobile payments
Online and in-app ordering lets your customers avoid the lines or the wait for the order to be taken and processed. The ability to pay for their orders beforehand takes customer convenience one step ahead. Not only does it make the lives of your customers easier, but it also improves

s your efficiency and accuracy for handling orders. Both of these advantages give you a clear edge over your competitor, whether they’re right across the street or across the pond.

3.Loyalty, rewards and discounts programs
According to a survey of 2015, 37% of customers use the mobile app to look for discounts. While 26% of customers use the app for Redeeming/earning loyalty points. Besides these stats, the most important is the fact that the cost of attracting/acquiring a new customer is 5 times higher than the cost of keeping one i.e. earning brand loyalty is cheaper than creating brand awareness and attractiveness.

4.Location based services
The prevalence of location-based services like beacons and geofencing has given brands the ability to engage with potential customers, even before they step into the brick and mortar location. Consider it as the modern day equivalent of handing out flyers to passers-by, promoting the restaurant deals, discounts, menu improvements, and other news.

5.Multiple platforms (app store & google play)
It’s obvious after developing an app you want everyone to notice it. Moreover, that would be only possible if your app is accessible on different platforms (App Store & Play Store).

Multiple avenues to your app make it visible to all the users of a different platform which in turn results in the downloading and subsequently increasing your users. Ensure that you maintain the quality of your Apps on each platform. There are few apps whose versions work fine on one platform and struggles on the other as it lacks the quality.

6.Table reservation
Your restaurant may be small but it may be popular enough that your customers find it difficult to get a table at walk-in. Or maybe, your restaurant is a high-end eatery that only accommodates prior reservations and not walk-ins. Whatever your situation, your restaurant mobile application should have a table reservation option for your customers. This helps cut down customer frustration that undoubtedly arises from long waits to get a table and gives them the opportunity to perfectly plan their evening.

7.Staff management
To manage your restaurant staff and increase efficiency

you must have this feature. This feature ensures that your restaurant is never over or underemployed. It also enables you to track your employees’ performance to date.

You can make necessary changes based on your employees’ performances. It eventually increases efficiency and production as there would always be an optimum number of employees present to finish the task in time.

8. Social media integration
Social media integration has become a permanent feature for every app out there. For the restaurant industry, even more, what with the customer’s need to review their experience, take pictures of and upload them to their social media accounts like Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, etc. Not just that, you can leverage social media and tie it with your loyalty/discount programs to entice existing customers to earn points and rewards for inviting new customers/friends.

9. Personalization
Personalization has become a significant feature in On-Demand Applications in the recent past. In this feature the app tracks and analyses the user’s activities & behavior and suggests relevant products & services. It helps in engaging and building your relationship with the customer.
It also helps in retaining your existing users as they are getting what they want with minimum effort. With personalization, you save them from the hassle of searching their favorite restaurant or cuisines repeatedly.
Using mobile apps in your restaurant: Features and benefits
Restaurant app development allows making use of mobile technology in a way, which can help restaurant owners manage their business in numerous ways. Data gathered through the use of apps can provide an abundance of valuable information that can help businesses become more efficient, profitable, and overall successful. This information can help owners plan meals throughout the day (during peak and off-peak hours), offer promotional products and special offers when appropriate, keep up-to-date records of the necessary store provisions, and plan product supply according to customer demand.

In the table below, you’ll find a list of features that a comprehensive (and user-friendly) restaurant app will have, as well as the corresponding benefits for the customer and restaurant.
Restaurant apps: Building your own versus adopting what’s already out there
adopt your restaurant as per time's demand
Many restaurant mobile app developers may suggest you start your business with an already existing app. And while having an app that’s dedicated to your restaurant business can be very beneficial, if your business is only at its start and your resources are limited, it’s important to understand that you shouldn’t hurry with building your own app. There are lots of apps already on the market that can help you achieve some of your goals already. Consider adding OpenTable or another similar app to your restaurant to help customers fill your tables. Register your restaurant on apps like Zomato and others to increase your brand’s exposure and help potential customers discover you.
Designing and developing a dedicated app will take time and resources (financial and otherwise) and will also require time and resources to ensure widespread adoption of your app by consumers. A mobile app should be thought of as a bonus tool once your business is already established and you have the time necessary to manage its development.
If you do have the resources necessary or you’re ready to take the next step in growing your business, creating a unique mobile app for your restaurant is a great way to boost its success even further. But how much would it really cost? That answer really depends on the types of features you’d want to be included.

The costs of developing a mobile app for your restaurant
The cost of any application depends on many components, such as the complexity of its features, design, functionality, etc. The time necessary for development depends on the number of developers involved in each part of the process. A simpler app will take less time to develop while a bigger development team will be able to accomplish more complex functionality. It really depends on your particular goals and priorities. Based on our years of experience as software developers for various clients around the world, here are two examples of what is reasonable to expect when developing an app for your restaurant.
Example 1: Building a somewhat simple app that includes:
menu presentation,
push notifications about news and promotions,
the ability to leave comments and reviews, and
the ability to share customer choices in social networks.

Whether you’re a restaurant owner looking to improve sales, customer loyalty, and retention or you’re an entrepreneur investing in your next venture of online food ordering and/or delivery service – the above features are a must to include in your app.

However, depending on the range of your business and cost of app development your needs, your app can be both consumer-facing and/or business-facing.

If you’re looking to have both, then your app can be your comprehensive solution for handling the day-to-day management of your business as well as your customers.

2020.10.09 06:58 ParadoXchloe SHOPSM Review (SM Online Store)

My overall experience with shop sm was actually very smooth from adding items to cart to checking out. I used online payment thru Gcash and the rest of the experience was pretty much the same as with all other shops. Their courier is 2GO.
I love how they send you pdf copies of the invoice through email. Their in-house tracking page is a bit inaccurate tho so you will have to manually check your email to get a link for the tracking page of 2GO express. All in all, the order and delivery process took 4 days considering we live in the province of Cavite (with only 1 day processing, and the rest of the days for delivery.)
Do you have another experiences with Shop SM that we might not know about?

2020.10.08 16:11 CardinalNumber If Your Robinhood Account Has Been Hacked, Please Read This Thread and Participate

Over the last half a year or more, I've seen dozens if not 100+ accounts reported here as 'hacked'. The stories are very similar so far but this is Reddit and the best anyone can do is tell people to contact support. People mistaking this subreddit for an 'official' support channel and getting just outrageous about me not directly telling them what to do besides "Contact support" has caused me to flat out not care about it but it's a growing stone in my shoe so here we are. I'm bumping the referral thread from the top sticky spot for now to get as many eyes on and responses to this as I can.
If you've had your account 'hacked' over the last few months, please send modmail to /Robinhood with a subject that makes it clear that your account was hacked. I've mentioned this was a growing problem here in unrelated correspondence with Robinhood but got no reply specifically about accounts being hacked or what was being done about it. Please note that I cannot help you recover anything that was taken from you and you should contact support immediately if you think someone is trying to access your account. I'm just trying to get as many data points as possible to resolve this in my own mind, maybe pass along what we've gathered to Robinhood, and at least create a best practices policy to post here in this sub to try and prevent more people from getting 'hacked.'
In your message, please include the following information in an organized way:
Be aware that nearly everything I'm asking here should be considered private information! If you do not trust the current moderators and any future moderators of this subreddit or the current or future site admins with this information, please, do not send it to us via modmail! My feelings will not be hurt if you decide to leave parts of this blank. No one should post this type of information in public! Do not risk your security!
If I see a pattern in the responses, I might follow up with people via modmail or another thread like this.

2020.09.28 16:39 TestedTrapking I think my phone's been infested with adware!

A few days ago, I downloaded an apk for an app which was not on the play store anymore (important reasons). But I think the app was infested with adware, so at times while the phone is on, a random chrome tab would open without my input while I'm doing something, and I would sometimes get erotic dating site ads or online casino ads. What can I do to fix this? I have limited personal data on my phone but it can be annoying installing all my apps again. I have a Samsung J7 Prime, model SM-J727T (t-mobile) running android 8.0.

2020.09.16 05:55 Bizpages-Lister How to Create, Keep, And Restore Safe Passwords - Convenience Against Security?

How to Create, Keep, And Restore Safe Passwords - Convenience Against Security?
Nowadays, with the tremendous growth in digital communications, the protection of a user identity becomes vitally important. In most cases, the identity is protected with a secret password that only the user knows. Another layer of security is the Two Factor Authentication method, which uses another (additional to password) separate and independent channel of communication between the remote server and the user. Typically this is implemented by sending an Auth SMS or a push message to the user's mobile device.
This article discusses the threats that can a web user face while creating, storing, and using strong passwords online to access his/her accounts, such as social media, email, financial institutions, etc. A good understanding of such may help prevent loss of important data, sensitive personal information, and financial assets.
Creating a Strong Password
Problems that a user faces while creating, storing, and restoring a password are discussed below. What is a good password, after all?

  1. the password must contain an alphabet of symbols as big as possible, such as, for example, A-Za-z0-9 or 52 possible characters for the English alphabet and digits; even better if keyboard non-alphabet symbols are added such as "!", "?", "-", "#", etc., a total of 32 typeable characters from a usual computer keyboard. Then the overall alphabet for a password produces 84 characters. For other national alphabets, it can be even longer: 92 for German and 98 for Russian.
2) the password must be as long as possible, but not shorter than 8 characters
Some interesting facts: for a password of 8 characters long which is based on the above alphabet of 84 characters, the total number of variations would comprise 84^8 or 2.5 million billion. A modern software, as reported, is capable of checking 76,000,000,000 MD5 hashes per second on one average computer. This means that the entire possible number of hashes for a password of 8 characters can be checked in about 32,000 seconds or around 9 hours. Making the password longer just by one character will require a month of calculations. Adding another character (password length=10) means that an attacker will need 7 years. For a password of 20 such characters, one computer will need 127 billion billion years!

Password Strength Based On Its Length
3) the password must be easy to remember, write down, and type into the password field.
As can be seen, requirements No.2 and No.3 are contradictory. A long and random password is difficult to remember, write, or type in. This is a reason for most users to use simple passwords or re-use the same password for all services, a fact that worries computer security experts most.
I looked through dozens of high profile Internet articles written by various people to get an idea of how a strong password can be generated, stored, and recovered if needed. In most cases, the proposed methods only deal with one aspect of the problem and ignore the others. For example, some authors keep inventing new methods to create a long and memorable phrase and manipulate it in various ways by replacing letters with digits and non-alphabet symbols. Other recommendations include using this or that password manager to generate and keep an encrypted database with a logins/passwords list.
Why remembering a passphrase is not working
A bit of very popular advice that people find on the Internet is about how to use a phrase as your password. For example, choose "I need a safe password" and modify it to a certain working password by replacing and manipulating characters in it. It is advised to invent and memorize a certain pattern for such modifications, for example, an alternate letter casing that may be like this "I nEeD a SaFe PaSsWoRd" or using only two first characters of each word and replace spaces with a certain symbol, like "I_nEa_Sa_Pa", etc.
While such a method can be quite productive for certain purposes, e.g. creating and memorizing your single and strong Master Password, this can hardly be used as an everyday password. Why?

  1. A typical active web user has around 100 to 150 accounts that require a password. Using the above method, s/he would need to create and remember 150 different phrases and patterns. Or, even if the applied pattern is the same, it is just 150 phrases, still a tremendous challenge to face.
  2. As some websites, especially financial institutions or banks require to change the user password regularly because it expires, let's say, every six months, managing the list of such phrases becomes a nightmare.
  3. Trying not to forget the passwords, users will tend to
- use the same phrase on every website
- write down the phrase on paper as plain text form which can easily be stolen.

4) Such a phrase password is quite difficult to type in the password field, especially on a mobile device. This problem for most people will lead to choosing a simpler password and/or saving it in the browser's autofill to avoid typing. Browsers normally keep passwords as open text and such storage is completely unsafe.
Why using password managers is not always working
A great number of specialized software has emerged to tackle the password problem. The list includes
  1. Locally run software that keeps the password list on your computer;
  2. Cloud services store it on a remote server and give it to you when needed;
  3. A mix of the two.
Although such software uses strong up-to-date encryption features and is constantly tested by security experts, it still has some problems, mostly due to the nature of people as users rather than the features of the software.
There are five main problems with password managers as I can see them:
  1. The local computer can fail, be stolen, or the software can crash, or the database can be damaged or accidentally deleted. Saving backups on a flash drive can help, but it requires efforts only a few people, most disciplined and wary ones, are likely to exert;
  2. The master password can be forgotten. In this case, you just say goodbye to your list of passwords.
  3. Cloud password services are considered safe just because they say they are. There is no external or independent audit of such companies so that you don't know those people and you are not familiar with the mechanisms that protect your password lists. The company does not disclose their algorithms and protection mechanisms and, if your password is stolen by a hacker from such an online depository, you are unlikely to know when, how, and why it happened.
  4. Cloud services are not fool-proof. For example, I have often been in a situation where Lastpass automatically suggests that I should update my login information for a web service even though I entered no new password and did not ask for it. If I click the update button at some point, my old good password would likely be deleted and replaced with an empty one. This feature was designed for the convenience of users, and as we all know, more convenience means less security.
  5. Both local and cloud services can be paid, although some of them are totally free.
What to do?
To the benefit of Password Managers, I must say that I use one of them a lot (Lastpass). Their autofill feature is brilliant, saving a great deal of time and effort. But my key assets and services, including the Master Password to the Password manager itself, need an additional layer of protection, so I prefer to keep them elsewhere.
For this purpose I use a service that is called Safer Password at Bizpages:
The idea behind this utility is simple: instead of making up a longer phrase and manipulating it using various patterns for each website, email account, etc., the user should generate a password that is an encrypted text made of two words: a strong single Master Password and a simple open password. The beauty of this system is that you can write open passwords anywhere: on a yellow sticker stuck to your display, in a text file on your computer, etc. The open password is usually short and easy to remember and write down.

How your password manager can look like
The open algorithm is simple and fully implemented in Javascript: the system suggests that you print it out on paper and keep it for further use in case the utility webpage is not opening. By following a few simple steps you can restore the password on third-party resources. Its cryptographic strength is based on SHA1, a hashing function that is being used by the U.S. Government for security purposes.
Moreover, the Safer Password utility webpage remains fully functional even if saved onto your hard disk as a full HTML page. As such, it can be also copied to a flash drive as a backup.

2020.09.14 22:48 CleanAccount69 Established entrepreneur and digital marketer seeking co-founder iOS/android developer for new FinTech start up

Sounds like I should be on a r4r sub with this headline.
I realize this might be a shot in the dark but I’m looking to add some new blood to my network. I’m in the early stages of launching my newest venture and I’m looking for someone with as much ambition as I have who specializes in mobile application developement to drive this to the next level with me.
Me? I’m a digital marketing nerd and I just like making businesses explode. Not like, “I can post pretty pictures to social media”...more like, I’ve successfully grown a couple of ventures to $500-1M ARR, sold some ventures, established. I’ve had a lot of success in paid social, marketing automation, strategic partnerships, etc.
My best venture to date was just me, a great developer and an outsourced team we hired to create e-commerce abandoned cart recovery solutions for some of the largest e-commerce platforms utilizing messenger, SMS, text.
The app I’m looking to build now is in peer-to-peer community banking. I’ve proven out the concept, I know how to grow the f**k out of it, I need someone to own building it. My alternative is to hire developers on my own, but I would love to have that co-founder relationship as I had in my aforementioned start-up.
Bootstrapped for now, however, I do have connections in acquiring capital if needed.
So, want to have a date? Shoot me a message with a quick summary and we can chat.

2020.09.13 21:18 BloodyPassion Apple devices are being hacked

I'm telling right away - TL;DR - I,m facing unprecedented hacking attack on Apple family of devices and need help. I'm in San Francisco and need someone who can do forensics of my mac mini and help to protect myself from people attacking me.
I'm the owner of 2 Macbooks pro, mac mini, Ipad, Iphone and iwatch, 1 apple id and 3 gmail accounts.
Everything was fine till August 3. Well I was dumb enough to use 3 variants of the same password with all my accounts. Implementing 1password or another password manager I was delaying for quite some time out of laziness I guess. We use lastpass at work and I silently hate it so didn't want to deal with something like that at home. It was an introduction. I'lll try to be as brief and as detailed as I can now.
Some details became a blur because I'm literally on a verge of a nervous breakdown at the moment.
On August 3 all my email accounts including apple id were hacked. Taken over by someone for at least several hours. Among those only 1 account is main, others are secondary, for job search, another for facebook and ebay, and the last one - apple id - for dating sites.
I was able to restore access to my accounts using my phone number within several hours. I work in big tech and our company was attacked by some people who used texting phishing tactics. First I thought it was connected to work and even filed a ticket telling them that my phone is hacked (there was some weird behavior on the phone) but work stuff seemed unaffected and ticket was closed. Hackers also got to my NAS where I has some old movies and frankly lots of porn collected since 2007. NAS wasn't connected, I mean I didn't have access to it because my wifi point went offline and I didn't bother to go to landlords and set it up (we have internet from landlords, one ISP but 2 different networks) but they somehow were able to take the porn library out, not the files but links to them. The stuff was from torrents so I decided ti get rid of the NAS and its contents, moreover I watch porn legally online now, torrents were in the past.
For several weeks it was quiet. Meanwhile I got a membership from Lookout and Lifelock because I had pics of my documents in icloud library: ssn, driver's license, medical insurance cards, Russian passport etc. It was literally an identity theft. Meanwhile Lookout informed me that my credentials were on dark web monthly since January 2020 and my SSN is public information.
As I said, 3 week were quiet. And then it started. All my emails were taken over again. First I found hidden backups of my machines with some video files on my macbook. Tried to delete them using sudo - didn't work, not enough rights. WTF. Then I pulled all the needed info to the cloud and decided to wipe the macbook and install the OS from scratch. Laptop started acting weird fast and I wasn't able to shut it down. Force quit didn't work, fan sounded as if it's a plain and it's going to take off. I had an impression someone controls my machine and erased if from icloud. Well, that's what I thought. Next time when I turned it on, there was a password on a disk. Password that I didn't add. Attempt to log in recovery mode led to grey screen with a passcode which I didn't implement either. After next reboot I discovered firmware password which was removed by Mobile Kangaroo but as for disk they told me to change it, thank god ssd are cheap now. Machine became a brick without a new disk. Apple mac genius bar was able to remove the lost passcode and install the OS only today. Then I had an awful Saturday on September 6th - they almost induced hysteria by taking over my accounts many times during the day. I changed the passwords numerous times before it. I have 2FA, mixed, with sms and authenticator app. But still they were able bypass these steps and changed the passwords to my accounts. I was barely able to take the accounts back but then started thinking that they know what I type as new password and somehow know the 2FA code. It didn't feel right, Apple is so secure. So I switched to iphone - allegedly the most secure device and changed the passwords from it. It seemed to help.Meanwhile it turned out they downloaded the whole archive from my gmail account since 2009 - there is such functionality. And also all my icloud. I have no idea what emails they send and where and what they deleted when they controlled my account. I know nothing about hacking but I had an impression they used safari to go to some websites - such as datadog, howtogeek, appletoolbox and lookout/legal and trendmicro/legal. Btw I have 4 antivirus apps, none of them found anything. Then I installed Little snitch, saw some incoming connections, not sure what it was, and then noticed tht my chrome started having hundreds and then thousands of outgoing connections to different Ipv4 addresses. Packets were rather small though.
Nightmare just started. IT turned out they knew my gmail passwords that I set up from the phone - they just sat quietly and waited for something. My mac mini started showing strange file with extension .prefPane in recents and different system folders in history where I haven't been. Then I finally intalled Google Wifi app and discovered unknown machine with the same name as my mac mini and almost the same mac address. It was sitting on our wifi for a week and downloaded 46gb of data. I have a screenshot, not on this machine unfortunately. I shut down my mac mini and didn't turn it on since then. I started checking my devices and discovered that my work laptop laptop also had some .prefPane files in history and bunch of system folders which I didn't touch. I know almost nothing about macOS structure and can just look at hidden files, that's it. I was more than concerned, told InfoSec at work that something is happenning, had 3 hours conversation with 2 serious men who told me that according to the logs my work machine is safe but personal stuff is probably breached. Judging by the recent files showing up in dropbox, icloud and google drive. Files which I didn't touch t all and many of them have sensitive and confidential information, health-related for example. Right there I decided to implement 1password but with all the craziness and password changing everywhere I saw that it didn't help - they still were able to change the password and take account back to them. Or after I changed the password I saw 4 different devices having access to my gmail account. I changed my laster password several time and after 1password had 21 most important logins and vault with pretty valuable documents - I finally forgot my masterpassword. I remember the words but specil characters in the end are a blur - I was tired and couldn't focus and forgot to write it down. So farewell my stuff in 1 password - unless I find the right combination 1 day. I made a conclusion that they were able to see my screen. Btw they bought apowersoft from my account, I found 1 email they apparently forgot to delete but I didn't find the software on my machines.... Apple support said everything what I say happening is highly unlikely especially on ios devices since they have government level of protection. But I see that with my own eyes... Also there is an army of bluetooth beacons around me, in very residential neighborhood. Many of them are literally near according to BLE Scanner. There is also BlueZ 5.44 device which connected to my Iphone bluetooth without any permission from me. I have no idea for how long. I think that's how hacking started... Then I discovered that my calls and messages were forwarded to bunch of devices which has the same names as mine but there are several mac minis there etc. My google voice had 2 or 3 extra devices to forward to.... Btw who am I - mid level QA engineer who is just studying programming and trying to do some automation at work. My technical level is pretty low. I saved some money since I moved to America. Not a lot, San Francisco is expensive city. I was born and raised in Russia but never had access to any secret info or high ranking persons, no one can be influenced by pressure on me, I'm a regular gay guy who fled from difficult life and persecution of gays in Russia and been living here in SFBA for the last 7 years.... So I'm nobody but I had a feeling there is team with 24/7 surveillance on me - I even thought it's government but government can silently spy on you and the come with subpoena or arrest order. These guys literally torture. Later - more. I definitely notice my ios devices went rogue. Face id stopped working and I had to reset it every time. Today passcode stopped working and I couldn't unlock the phone - had to wipe it using recovery mode. Created 2 wifi networks at home, one already had 2 unknown apple devices, one of the mac addresses is again very similar to mine. The biggest torture of this weekend - untransferable authenticator app where I keep 2FA codes for work and personal stuff. I spent bunch of time on ipad, freshly wiped via roommates mac, adding the codes to new transferrable app and when was about to transfer, they used the encryption function of the app with the password which can't be reset. Authy, I hate you as much as 1password. So all my codes turned out to be locked and useless. I wiped my ipad clean and started from scratch with 2 different apps - one for work, another or personal stuff. You not gonna believe it - they suppressed internet on ipad. It's connected to wifi or mobile spot but there is no internet icon on the upper right and it's not connecting. How is it possible on ios? Then my passcode on apple watch changed by itself before that showing keyboard on my phone 3 times. Then face id stopped working and passcode on my iphone changed. I'm not kidding. It's after I finished collecting 2FA accounts again. So I can't open my phone! The work of a half day went to shit. Then I tried to turn off the passcode on ipad and it didn't work. Some items disappeared from ios menu, for example Siri and Search... I talked to Lifelock - they said they gonna monitor my ssn, name, etc, like they always do. Wrote to Lookout, they answered with phone number where I need to call. Also need to call FTC, number was given by Lifelock. No money disappeared from my accounts, my saving account is restricted, credit bureaus are frozen. I'm afraid with all that info they have about me they want to take over my apple id or just commit cyber crimes on my behalf. I'm scared and don't know what to do, how to protect myself and my devices from everything happening. I can't live normal life for the last 2 weeks. Thank god people were sympathetic at work but my friends din't really believe me saying Apple has high class protection from such shit. But I saw all that with my own eyes. It takes them about couple of days to hack a freshly wiped phone or ipad, and less than several hours - freshly wiped mac. My roomie's apple devices seem to be unaffected despite the fact he downloads tons of torrents. Btw one more thing - on August 13 Lookout informed me that sim card is taken out of my phon despite the phone was in my pocket. On August 22 Lookout sent notification that sim went online. There were couple of calls to ATT on my behalf that I didn't do. All in all I live in hell last 2 weeks and need to get out of this crazy situation. I looked for some cybersecurity firms but they all work with prevention and with corporations, not individuals. Also my facebook was taken over but I announced it hacked and it's blocked now and neither of us can regain access because I have the email and hackers added their phone where they get 2FA which I ned to log in. No one contacted me asking for ransom or anything. I don't understand what's going on. Please help.

2020.09.13 19:45 ALE199ITA Battlefield 1 VS Battlefield 1918

I wanted to ask you since the BF1942 Subreddit is kinda... Let's put it as gramps is in a retirement home.
So I wanted to ask this community, whats your opinion on both Battlefield 1 and the mod for Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 1918.

Now for those who don't know what Battlefield 1918 is, its pretty much Battlefield 1 but more realistic and generally, it adds a bunch of stuff.
It is flawed, for example, you can't customize the soldier and instead you are stuck with choosing 5 classes, which usually are Scout(Depending on Faction and Battle it may have a single shot rifle like the martini-henry or a scoped version of the Infantry rifle), Infantry, Medic/Officer(Depending on the battle the map takes place in), Machine GunneSpecialist, Engineer(Anti-Tank).
There ARE elite classes that can be found around the map like BF1 but most of them are of a support role.
This means that the battlefield wont be dominated by Automatic or Semi-Automatic Rifles.
This also mean that if you want to raid the trenches like a real strosstruppen with an MP18, you need to find the Kit around the map.

You know the possible Tanks in BF1? Mark V, A7V, FT-17, [REDACTED], St Chamond and Putilov-Garford? in total 6 with 3 variants each. soo in total 18 unique Tanks.and you know how the equipment like Field Guns, AA and Mortars are all the same right? even if its like an German the gun its still the British Pom-Pom.Atleast, the Armoured Cars and such are somewhat unique for each faction.
Well in BF1918 Every Faction has it own vehicles and equipment, yes, this means that the British DONT have A7V, St Chamond or Putilov-Garford (The last one isn't in BF1918 anyway.) or that the Germans wont have the Pom-Pom.
For example: Some of the Entate Vehicles they have:Tanks: Schneider CA1, St Chamond CA, FT-17, FT-18, Mark IV, MArk VIII Liberty, Whippet, Gun Carrier Mark I, Mendelejew, TSAR Tank.
Here some of the Central Powers Planes and Artigliery:Planes: Fokker Dr.I, Fokker D.VII, Halberstadt D.V, Albatros D.V, Hansa-Brandenburg W 29, Albatros C.III, Gotha G.IV, L30 Zeppelin, Etrich Taube.
Artigliery: 7.7cm Feldkanone 96 n.A., 7.5 cm Gebirgskanone M. 15, 15 cm schwere Feldhaubitze 13, 42-cm-Mörser i.R., Kurze Marinekanone14 "Dicke Bertha" (Yes THAT Bertha, the Big Bertha), Granatenwerfer 16 (This is the Mortar in BF1), 25 cm schwerer Minenwerfer, 7.7 cm Ballon-Abwehrkanone (Technically AA)
Two things to note: you can MOVE Artigliery (with some exceptions like Mortars and Heavy Artigliery) so instead of being stuck to one position you can have a Man-Powerd Tank, You can also indirect fire them with help of a Scout, so if a scout, spots with the binocles, who ever is using Artigliery can fire it indirectly to the spotted spot.
And another thing, that you can't spawn IN veichles but need to wait for them to spawn and then race to get into one before someone else does.
Oh did I mention, Naval Battles?
No, not the 3 type boats (4 if you count Battleship) battles in Turning Tide but I mean full scale 90% ship on ship Battles,
and since every-faction has its own vehicles, you wont see exacly same destroyer against another destroyer but stuff like:
the Entante with its own set of War Ships like the Suffren and, yes the British Destroyers ecc.
While the central powers has like, SMS: Dresden,Emden, Scharnhorst, Gneisenau and more.
Oh and also Float Planes like the earlier mentioned: Hansa-Brandenburg W 29.
But Lets talk about the battlefields, BF1 has (around) 31 Maps while BF1918 has as of 5 february 2020 (yes the mod is still getting updated and a new upcoming update named "The Guns of August" will add 2 new factions like the French Zouaves, and battles that take place in well, August of 1914.) A total of 1-0-1 Maps.
36 in Western Europe, 11 in Eastern Europe, 13 in Southern Europe, 7 in Africa, 10 in the Midle East, 1 in East Asia, 2 in Oceania, 1 in South America and a Bunch of Special Maps some are alt-history "Secret Weapons" of WW1 Maps (so, all the Experimental Stuff like TSAR TANK and TreffasWagen.) Others are just Arcade/Fictional Battles.
And each Map has its own Faction Equipment depending on the date, so you wont see Germans using A7V tanks or MP18 in 1914/1915.

But now we arrive at the FLAWS:
Since we are talking about a game of 2002, there are A LOT of Technical limitation that BF1918 pushes to its limits.
No Enviroment Alteration, so no buildings getting razed to the soil.
Graphics: Subjective but its 2002 so you can't expect what we have in BF1. (For me it helps the feeling of Grit of WW1)
Sound Design: Due to the limitation of the game, the sound design is very limited and very, well, 2002. So don't except the Amazing sound design that is in BF1.
Animations: the Soldiers weapons are animated in a very very simple way.
Usually Rifles animation use the classic "Working the Bolt off screen" to hide the fact that the soldier doesn't use the bolt, same with pistols but not with machine guns who have an actual animation. Another thing is that you can't Aim downsight, you can only zoom in, the execption to this is again, Machine Guns who some can be aimed down sight.
Gameplay: There is no Soldier Costumization, you choose from the 5 classes, if you wish to have another rifle or use the Annihilator as a Russian in 1917, though luck.
Another thing to consider is that the medic class isn't always aviable, its aviable usually in earlier conflict (1914-1915) but usually its replaced by the Officer who has a Pistol, a Melee Weapon and a Whistle, the whistle is a one use weapon that when used will refill ammo and health of everyone around the Officer.
Another detail is that all the Standard Classes are without parachute, Pilots kits need to be found and picked up if you wish to jump out of the plane like Hermann Göring.
To make up for this You can land Aircraft without it exploding due to it being allergic to the ground.
Bayonets are still a thing but you can't Bayonet Charge like in BF1, instead with a bayonet, you sacrifice aiming for an Alt-Attack that is, stabbing the enemy with the Bayonet (usually a insta/2 Hit Kill)
Bullet isn't simulated so you don't need to aim higher or lead the shots (with execption of Artigliery and Tanks)
And two BIG Gamplay details that can make it or break it for some:
  1. All Machineguns (Execpt the SMGs but they are rare) aim will be horrible if you don't prone, if you thought you couldn't hit anything in BF1 just you wait trying to hit someone with a Machinegun without being prone!
  2. Rifle do A LOT of damage and are A LOT precise but very slow, with a lot I mean if you are close enough you can one shot enemies, most other weapons do a lot of damges yes but lack precision, for example most machine guns can One/Two Shot enemies (but its balanced by the fact you need to prone so you sacrifice a lot of mobility) and Pistols usually two/three shot enemies but they lack precision and at longer range are pretty useless.
Now that we got over that, what do you think about BF1 and BF1918?
Do you think BF1 is better because its way better to the eyes?People say Graphics aren't everything but some enjoy the game just becasue it looks very cool and ofcourse, music and sound design go hand in hand with the graphics.
Or maybe its the possibility to customize the soldier, something that BF1918 lacks?
I really want to hear what you think about BF1918, and if you think BF1 or BF1918 is better, I would like to hear why.
If you wish to try it out you can download the mod for free and you can find BF1942 in a hopefully 100% Legal way that isn't anything to do with a word thats used very much in a Specific time period that takes place between the 1650s and the 1730s.

2020.09.11 11:08 shawndavidson705 An introductory guide to M-health

The term m-Health is referred to as the medical practice, which is usually supported by mobile devices. It encompasses applications like telecommunication, technology like the multimedia, and information related to health.
How probably is mHealth used?
Some of the common health apps of the m-health are education and the awareness, proper diagnosis and treatment of a patient, healthcare supply chain management, remote data collection, remote patient monitoring systems, telemedicine, and chronic disease management. The patient must make and receive phone calls/text messages related to health education and adherence to treatment, helping contact health workers that transport to health services.
Mobile health can help healthcare workers by providing needful resources to access most up to date guidelines, collaborate with the colleagues, analyze the data, received diagnostic support, and interact with the clients. Positive outcomes are achieved through SMS alerts that can prove the ability to influence behavior in the manner superior to radio and television campaigns. The data collection in some of the existing countries helps to evaluate mHealth solutions that can optimize policy and the programs.
Adherence to medication and chronic care of the management is supported by Medical app as evidenced by a smart alert system which notifies physician via cloud base platform if the patient is not following proper rules or no medication is taken at the proper time. Access to quality care can be optimized to address the shortage of skilled workers that lessen the burden on those who try to bridge the gap.
Some of the emerging health apps as healthcare trends include emergency response systems, RPM, mobile synchronous, and diagnostic support for the remote clinic. Other than these some apps are on small scale app which includes health extension services, health services monitoring and the reporting and health promotion and the community mobilization & peer to peer health management for telemedicine.

2020.09.11 07:54 StudentOfQuake - a student project

Hi all, sharing a web app to prepare for an earthquake disaster and explore historical data. It is optimized for mobile but will also work on tablet and desktop.
This was built by a group of students for a project and has the following features:
- First load shows latest earthquakes for the last 7 days so if you hear about a large earthquake in the news, it would immediately show on first load without having to use the filters. This data is being served directly from our own backend and it syncs with USGS so it stays up to date. That way, it will still load even if the USGS API is down.
- You can checkout the map or list view in full screen. One of our testers is blind and it works great with a screen reader.
- We built everything from scratch and had designers as part of our team. We wanted our app to be an educational and calming resource. We chose cooler colours and added emergency preparedness.
- You can start to type in a location and it auto-completes the address - we use autocomplete so that you don’t need to type in the full address before it finds it. We also leveraged geo-location to pull in user GPS coordinates without having to type your address.
- In the filters you can create a custom query directly to USGS API, as far back as you want.
We also thought about the usage scenario of people interested in earthquakes wanting to see ‘interesting activity’ so we added some quick filters:
- We also built an sms notification system so that you get notified directly when new earthquake activity is detected within the proximity you select. Feel free to sign up and you will get SMS when USGS add earthquakes with a magnitude of 5 or higher within the proximity you select.
- We added a newsfeed which will show the latest news stories related to earthquakes from the NY Times API.
We would love to hear what you think. We don't plan on maintaining but it is open source so feel free to checkout our Github profiles in the about page.
Cheers, Team Faultline.

2020.09.11 06:09 wreckedcarzz TicWatch Pro 4G - connecting with the cellular network, how-to

Hey all!
I bought the watch a couple months ago when it was discounted by $60 or so. I like the watch, but was unsure about the process of/requirements to getting the cellular capabilities running.
I did some research and it would appear that watches are being carrier locked by means of other carriers not allowing watches not bought directly through them (t-mo does this; didn't check att). So I was stuck with Verizon - and I don't know of an mvno that does wearables, so I bit the bullet and started signing up for VZW.
Online, people will tell you 'you have to go in a store'. Do not go in a store. They will lie and rake you over the coals, financially. You can do this completely yourself.
Congratulations, you just did what Verizon reps will tell you is impossible, without going to a store (and getting told the same thing), without needing a voice line, all on your own. The first bill will be $35 ($15 plan + $20 activation), the next will be $10. Plus tax, of course. Also, you should really go into the Settings > Connectivity > Mobile > Data Usage, and set a limit of 1GB, a warning at 500MB, and the date of your activation (state date).
Hopefully, someone will get some use out of this information. All written from memory earlier today, so apologies for anything I messed up on.
Oh, and if you too did a TU unfreeze of your credit report - re-freeze that now! :)

2020.09.10 18:44 lugaidster Let's be calm about RDNA2 for a bit and look at some facts, shall we?

Ok guys, I decided to write this because I've seen a lot of comments about RDNA2 likely only matching the 3070, or not being competitive enough, or being late to the party and a few others. Let's tackle this a bit with some numbers and straight facts, and then let's look discuss where that will lead us to. I'd first like to tackle the idea that AMD is late to the party.
Yes, AMD is late to the party. It's late in features and will be late compared to Ampere. However, that's both inevitable and mostly irrelevant. Mid-range parts won't be available in quantity before october and high-end parts are unlikely to be available in mass quantities. A lot of people don't purchase parts as they are announced. What Nvidia has that AMD presently lacks is mind-share and that, my friends, is something that timeline won't fix. Anyone contemplating buying a 3080 at launch will likely still buy one at launch regardless of what AMD announces. The sad part is, they will be slapped in the face soon enough once a 3080Ti is announced with a much smaller gap between it and the 3090 and more memory in the not too distant future.
So, the idea that AMD needs to rush with announcing things is talking poppycock. This is Nvidia's month. It's their turn in the news cycle. They will have a headstart in sales, but thanks to availability constraints it won't be particularly relevant. The bigger issue with regards to this is Cyberpunk and, sadly, that battle has already been won. Just like when Witcher 3 launched, expect Nvidia to hold a lead against the competition once all the relevant gimpworks features are enabled on the AMD part, which is why Mindshare is the biggest enemy. The best thing AMD can do is let Nvidia launch and have their time in the spotlight and then let Zen 3 grab attention once we enter october's news cycle.
So, with that out of the way, lets focus in performance expectations. To do that, let's see what we have in hand first: RDNA1 and Turing.
Caveat: There's going to be a bit of napkin math here and we're going to focus mostly on rasterization performance. RT performance and Tensor performance are obvious advantages that will likely play a part at least in Nvidia optimized titles. Additionally, given how little we know about what AMD has in that regard, I prefer to not focus on it. We will get RT support soon enough, but DLSS 2.0 alternatives are MIA right now, so if those features matter to you, there seems to be only one choice at least for now (Nvidia), though I would recommend to wait for the RDNA2 announcement tosee if AMD has something to compete in that regard.

Navi vs Turing

Looking at the most interesting matchup of the last generation IMHO, the RX5700XT vs RTX 2070 Super. It is evident AMD significantly shrunk the gap between them and Nvidia when compared to Turing for gaming performance. Sure, there's still a gap, and sure, Nvidia was on a larger node so AMD gets to enjoy a bit of perf/W. However, given the release date of Turing and the costs associated with TSMC's N7 when Navi launched, it's clear to me that the node advantage Navi enjoys isn't playing a big deal here. First, let's look at some specs:
If we look at the average performance difference, Nvidia enjoys around an 8% advantage, which means there's still a gap. Additionally, Navi usually runs at a higher frequency, so there's still an IPC gap as well (I don't know if the best way to call it is IPC, but let's go with it, the point is the 2070S does more per clock than the RX5700XT). Considering those numbers, Nvidia seems to have around a 10%-15% IPC advantage. Let that sink in for a bit. Just a year prior AMD couldn't even touch the 1080Ti with the loudest, most power-hungry, most exotic GPU we've seen on the consumer side in quite a while and then, they matched it with a mid-range part. Sure, AMD got there first with the RVII, but that was an enterprise-class GPU full of expensive components and exotic tech which AMD very likely sold almost at cost.
There's still, of course, the matter of power consumption, but considering Nvidia didn't launch on TSMC this generation and decided to focus on a cheaper, more power-hungry node, I think any advantage Nvidia has in power-consuption uarch-wise is likely neglected by Samsung's 8nm node.
That leaves us with a bit of a gap feature-wise, of course. Navi doesn't support RT, doesn't support VRS, and also doesn't include units to accelerate tensor calculations, which means that Nvidia can still exploit their relationship with developers to include features that cripple the competition which would otherwise bring neglible IQ gains (Physx, Crysis 3 and Witcher 3 anyone?), but DLSS 2.0 is disruptive and how they push it is going to play a part (see caveat).

Turing vs Xbox Series X (Salt in hand)

As we saw, the RTX 2070S was about 10% ahead of the RX5700XT in terms of perfomance and around 15% ahead in IPC. Both had the same number of compute modules (40 SMs vs 40 CUs). Considering that the 2080 Super had 48 SM and has a similar clockspeed compared to the Xbox Series X, it stands to reason that for every percentage point in IPC gained with RDNA2, you'll get an extra percentage point ahead in performance against the 2080 Super. More importantly, it lends credence to AMD's claims about performance per watt improvements in RDNA2 considering that the console won't consume more than 200W and that includes memory, cpu, gpu, nvme drive and other stuff inside vs the ~250W the 2080S consumes.
Why is this important? Because it creates a baseline. AMD already has something to compete against the 2080 Super and the 2080 TI isn't massively faster than the 2080 Super. So this brings us to the first point. Thinking that AMD will only be able to compete with the 3070 is ridiculous. AMD may choose to only compete with the 3070, but it will be a choice, because we're not at the limits of their technology.

Turing VS Ampere (Salt in hand)

So far, we don't have that much information available, but let's speculate a bit with the leaked benchmarks and with the specs we have at hand. First, let's look at the specs of an interesting fight: RTX 2080ti vs RTX 3080.
If we look at the leaked benchmark (pinch of salt, please, though there's a video too kinda giving at least some credibility to the leak), the 3080 is giving a wide range of improvements from 25% to 45% rounding to about 30% give or take. Considering the increase in TDP by around 30%, it seems that the cards didn't gain a whole lot of perf/W, which means we're looking at a straight performance boost with this architecture but not any efficiency boost compared to Turing. As for performance, there's a and the increase in memory bandwidth by around 23% and an increase in clock frequency of around 10% which, when combined with the extra ROPs, gives around a 20% extra pixel fill-rate performance gain, so the gain in IPC compared to Turing isn't massive either, giving me around 15% on average for rasterization performance with a bit of napkin math.
Why are we looking at this, you might ask? Well, it's important to understand what we're getting right now in order to understand where AMD will need to be to rise up to the challenge. Ampere is looking to be impressive in raw numbers and it's also looking to be a beast in RT and Tensor performance, but that's not the focus of this (See caveat). However, when it comes to raw rasterization performance, we can see the architecture isn't more efficient than Turing and is only marginally better than Turing in terms of performance per clock.
Caveat time: Yes, there's efficiency improvements on the arch, but it seems most of that is negated with the node of choice. Also, I know TDP is not power consumption, but there's a correlation between the two.

RDNA vs Ampere

When looking at how things are right now, we can see that, arch-wise, if RDNA2 improves in IPC compared to RDNA, it should be able to compete in rasterization against Ampere. The IPC gap between RDNA1 and Ampere looks to be around 30%. It's big, I know, but there's a few things playing in AMD's favor and most of it boils down to efficiency. First, Nvidia is paying a hefty price in power consumption for that gain in IPC which will limit top frequency. Even if Nvidia maintains some of that lead compared to RDNA2 in IPC, the delta in performance could be covered with more frequency and, consequently, sacrificing power efficiency. Second, the feature gap has massively shrunk. While AMD still has no answer for DLSS 2.0 (and this could play a big part in the coming months, see caveat) we could see them show an alternative for it in October. More importantly, though, RT will be supported, VRS will be supported and the performance for doing at least some form of inference will be there for any ML algorithms developers want to use.

Potential Pitfalls

Not everything is rosy in Red land, sadly. AMD has an uphill battle in the software department and in the reputation department. AMD has some outreach to do still to recover some goodwill with many gamers. Warranted or not, AMD now has a reputation of having crappy drivers. There's also the fact that when people think performance, they think Nvidia. Which means that a lot of people won't wait for AMD regardless and simply go out and buy the Nvidia part. Considering that, arguably, the most awaited launch of the year is going to be Cyberpunk 2077, an Nvidia optimized title, this will be an issue for AMD too, which means that the bigger problems they have are not actually engineering related (at least not hardware engineering) but rather software engineering and PR, both with game developers and gamers alike.
Another potential pitfall is that, throughout the years, Nvidia has been able to add tech to their optimized-games that exploit inefficiencies in AMD's architecture. Given that GPUs are a balancing act of performance and cheats, both architectures will display weaknesses tackling certain workloads. Nvidia looks to have an advantage in ML workloads with their tensor cores and also an advantage in RT performance with their RT cores having independent execution pathways allowing both RT and texturing at the same time. How any of this plays out is anyone's guess, but we will see Nvidia exploit this difference one way or another just like they did with geometry in the past.
One last pitfall is that, for some reason, the techpress has this ability to blow AMD problems out of proportion. Most recently, the drivers issue has been front and center, and while I don't doubt there are driver issues, I also think part of it is unstable overclocks, part of it is unstable voltage rails and part of it is simply badly designed cards (14% RMA rate for Powercolor cards? C'mon!). However, remember the RX480 and the whole PCIE power consumption being blown out of the water? The takeaway here is that AMD needs a spotless launch, I doubt they will make it scathe free, but hopefully this is their best launch in years. With the drivers, I also hope they take their time to ensure we don't have another RDNA-like situation, at least it seems they've been hiring software engineers to improve things.

Summary and Conclusion

Ok, I know this is a wall of text, but here's the summary. AMD announcing things a month an a half after the fact is not a terrible thing and, considering their track-record in recent years, they rushing things is the last thing we want. AMD needs a spotless launch. As for people buying cards for Cyberpunk, that's lost battle. Timing isn't there and mindshare isn't there. Cyberpunk will be loaded with Nvidia features that are likely to gimp AMD's performance regardless, so people expecting that launch are likely to buy Nvidia regardless. And this brings us to the biggest hurdle AMD will have to sort this generation. RT and DLSS 2.0 won't be as niche now, they will need to answer somehow and their performance profile with those features will matter much more than with Turing. More over, cosidering the drivers PR fiasco, they need all hands on deck to right the boat on this one.
On a more positive note, competition in the higher end segment is almost a given. The Xbox Series X already seems to pack enough of a punch to compete with the 2080 given what we know of the console and of Navi's performance profile. When we add power consumption in the mix and the apparent efficiency of the Xbox Series X and RDNA2, it's almost a given AMD will bring the battle to Nvidia's most popular cards. Whether we see 3080-like or 3090-like performance will be more a strategic choice rather than a pure technical limitation and this reminds me of the GTX280 launch vs the HD 4850 situation. AMD might be adopting more of a small-die strategy to compete with Nvidia and it might actually pay off. With a smaller die and lower power consumption, AMD will be able to compete in price while not hurting their margins and, if they pull it off, it might even translate to a win in the mobile segment, a place where I don't see Ampere making significant inroads compared to Turing unless Nvidia has something up their sleeve. So yes, RTX 3070-like performance is almost a given now and, if AMD wants it, even 3080.
There's a lot of people analysing AMD's statements and launch date to imply RDNA2 won't be all that great or that AMD doesn't expect to compete with Nvidia at the high-end, but you're missing the facts. Look at them. Look at what we know of Ampere, Turing and the Xbox Series X. It seems almost impossible to think AMD won't be able to surpass the 2080Ti in rasterization performance considering the Xbox Series X is possibly already at the same level of a 2080S or even beyond. Just a 52 CU RDNA1 card should be able to match the 2080S, let alone one on an improved architecture.
Anyway, what do you think? Am I off? Am I missing something? Am I wishful thinking? Let's discuss while we wait for actual news.
